A native of Yerevan, Armenia, Sona Van has lived in California since 1978. She is a medical doctor with MS degree in Psychology. Sona Van has authored six books of poetry and has been translated into more than 18 languages. She received the Gold Medal from the Armenian Ministry of Culture and Diaspora and from the Golden Apricot Film Festival. In 2013 she was awarded with the Woman in Literature Prize in USA and “Movses Khorenatsi” medal. In 2017, she was awarded Homer’s medal in poetry from the EU and the International award of Clément Ianicius in Poland. She is the co-founder and editor of, ‘Narcis’, a literary magazine in Armenia, since 2006.
